Malignant melanoma

The term Malignant Melanoma is used when there is a malignant cell formation of pigment-producing skin cells. Currently, there are around 100,000 new cases of so-called ‘black skin’ cancer every year. It tends to spread metastases to the lymphatic and blood vessels and is the most common fatal skin disease, with rising numbers of new cases worldwide.

The number of patients suffering from a melanoma doubles about every seven years. Beforehand they attributed this primarily to changes in leisure patterns. UV radiation is regarded as the most important environmental cause of melanoma. Despite many campaigns in the last two decades, the idea of “Being tanned = being healthy” is still prevalent, so despite increased health awareness, the number of new cases continues to rise each year.

Light-skinned people with red and blond hair and a light eye colour, as well as people with a general tendency to sunburn or with freckles, are especially at risk of developing a Malignant Melanoma. Other risk factors include a high number of ordinary moles, and a weakened immune system.

A physician with appropriate experience can identify a Malignant Melanoma by a visual inspection of the patient’s skin. In case of doubt, an area of the suspicious skin with a corresponding safety margin, is taken and examined under the microscope to verify the diagnosis. Otherwise, doctors keep to the ABCDE rule:

A = Asymmetrical,
B = Borders are uneven
C = Colour, diversifying within the lesion,
D = Diameter greater than 5 mm,
E = Evolving, new, and appearing in a short time on an otherwise flat surface.

Recommended therapies for the treatment of malignant melanoma:

Whole-body Hyperthermia

The healing effect of whole-body hyperthermia for patients with melanoma is that we can very quickly bring the body to high temperatures (up 40.5 ° Celsius). This fast and high heating activates not only the immune system, but many degenerate cells of the melanoma are destroyed by the fast flooding of heat. In addition to the damage or removal of the cancer cells, the whole-body hyperthermia stimulates the immune system enormously without impacting the rest of the body. It triggers an immune cascade that activates and multiplies the white blood cells.

Gerson-Therapy

The nutritional of Dr. Gerson aims at detoxifying the body with the simultaneous addition of many fresh nutrients, which is particularly useful for patients with malignant melanoma. The therapy includes special juices, fresh and elaborately prepared and taken throughout the day, along with essentially high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables. These are carefully prepared to release their healing powers, partly as fresh food, in special soups, or gently cooked and steamed. The Gerson therapy is low in sodium, protein and fat.

Infusions with high-dose Vitamin C

At the Hyperthermia Center Hannover we treat patients with melanoma successfully with high-doses of vitamin C. The so-called Ascorbic acid is the best known vitamin, – and the most important antioxidant, i.e. it intercepts harmful free radicals in the body and makes them harmless – and in this way prevents degeneration in the cells. Vitamin C is also essential for the immune system and various restructuring processes in the body. When vitamin C is given in a high dose, the treatment of melanoma can be positively affected.

Procaine-Base-Infusion

Neural therapy assumes that chronic ailments are caused by interference fields. Each part of the body, and each pathologically altered organ in the body, can be an interference field. Also for the treatment of Malignant Melanoma , an anti-inflammatory anaesthetic is injected into the abnormal tissue structure, primarily in the head zone, which causes relief in the aching body area, and at the same time the corresponding organ- in this case the skin.

Virotherapy

Patients with Malignant Melanoma can benefit from an oncolytic virotherapy using viruses to destroy cancer cells without side-effects for the patient. A Virotherapy consists of several injections provided to a patient according to a Virotherapy protocol. At the Hyperthermia Centre Hannover, Dr. Mohamed Ali Zayen is the certified specialist for Virotherapy RIGVIR®. The Virotherapy protocol used at the our German cancer clinic is an outpatient treatment protocol. The interval of RIGVIR® injection is different from patient to another.
