Liver tumor (primary)
Liver tumours are cancerous tumours that are located in or on the liver. Different types of tumours can arise in the liver because it is built from different cell types. These growth processes can be benign or malignant.
The liver is the most important detoxification organ in the body, and plays an exceptionally important role in cancer types. Also because of the impact on all metabolic processes such as fat metabolism, or of the construction of sugar, the liver is crucial. For this reason, the type of detoxification measures taken against liver disease plays a much more important role than in other types of cancer. All measures must be taken to excrete and avoid toxins. The focus for liver cancer should be less on destruction of the tumour, and totally on detoxification.
In the early stages a patient mostly suffers from a right-sided upper abdominal pain, and in rare cases this is accompanied by fever. Patients are icteric (i.e. they have jaundice) and complain of fatigue, weight loss, and abdominal discomfort. An ascites (an accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity) can also develop. The liver is usually enlarged and hard.
In most cases, liver tumours are metastatic of other tumours, most commonly from the gastrointestinal tract, especially from colorectal cancer (colon cancer). The diagnosis is made sonographically or using computer tomography. The tumour marker AFP is often high. The discovery of the tumour is often accidental, or discovered because of its size (hepatomegaly), due to abdominal pain, jaundice, or other liver disorders.
If the tumor is small and localized, it can be removed eventually by a liver resection. Due to the great ability to regenerate, the liver grows back so quickly that the loss of volume can usually be compensated for.
Recommended therapies for the treatment of liver cancer:
Whole body Hyperthermia
For patients with liver cancer the healing effect of whole-body hyperthermia is that we can very quickly bring the body to high temperatures (up 40.5 °). This fast and high heating activates not only the immune system, but many degenerate cells of the liver are destroyed by the fast floods of heat. In addition to the damage or removal of the cancer cells, the whole-body hyperthermia stimulates the immune system significantly without impacting the rest of the body. It triggers an immune cascade that activates and multiplies the white blood cells.
The regional effective hyperthermia is also advisable for liver tumours. In this treatment the affected region is quickly heated to high temperatures (40 up to 44 ° C). This heat activates the immune system. Also, many cells of liver will be harmed or destroyed. In our day clinic at the Hyperthermia Centre Hannover we offer partial body hyperthermia depending on the diagnosis, and only damaged or degenerated tissue is overheated, which guarantees very gentle treatment to our patients.
The nutritional therapy of Dr. Gerson aims at detoxifying the body with simultaneous addition of many fresh nutrients, which is particularly useful for patients with liver cancer. The therapy includes special juices, fresh and elaborately prepared and taken throughout the day, along with essentially high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables. These are carefully prepared, partly as fresh food, in special soups, or gently cooked and steamed to retain their healing powers. The Gerson therapy is low in fat, low in sodium and proteins.
Infusions with high-dose Vitamin C
At the Hyperthermia Centre Hannover we treat patients with a liver tumour successfully with high-doses of vitamin C. The so-called Ascorbic acid is the most well known vitamin, – and the most important antioxidant, i.e. it intercepts harmful free radicals in the body and makes them harmless – and in this way prevents degeneration in the cells. Vitamin C is also essential for the immune system and various restructuring processes in the body. When vitamin C is given in a high dose, the treatment of liver carcinoma can be positively affected.
Neural therapy assumes that chronic ailments are caused by interference fields. Each part of the body, and each pathologically altered organ in the body, can be an interference field. For the treatment of liver cancer, an anti-inflammatory local anaesthetic is injected into the abnormal tissue structure, primarily in the head zone, which causes relief in the aching body area and at the same time the corresponding organ- in this case the liver.
